#WeekendCoffeeShare: Sticking to the Diet

Good Sunday morning! Welcome to a weekend of #weekendcoffeeshare. Come on in and have a cup of steamy hot coffee, tea, cocoa, or whatever with me. If you want coffee, I would ask if you want some unsweetened almond milk in it. That’s how I like my coffee these days – no sugar and with unsweetened almond milk.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I can finally take a breath. I finally did my speech for Toastmaster (a public speech club) yesterday. I have been trying to write this speech for a month. This was a difficult speech to write because of the topic and prompt – an After dinner speech. The idea didn’t solidify in my mind until last week and frantically, I had been spending night after night last week in Adobe Lightroom, trying to make adjustments to my images before inserting them into a PowerPoint slideshow.

My speech is titled, 2018: Memories and Adventures. The script took me three hours to write which was unfortunate because after two minutes into the speech, I departed from the script and began speaking from my head. I was surprised I spoke for so long – 16 minutes – when the speech is only supposed to be 8 to 10 minutes.

It doesn’t matter now though because it’s done and I can relax a little. Now, I just need to do one more speech to receive my Advanced Communicator Bronze.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I had another busy week at work. Even with two mail-free days (I’m responsible for sorting and stamping incoming mail), I still managed to fill just about every minute of my usual 9-hour workdays.

The highlight of the week was when we had the Department Christmas dinner on Friday. We went to a steakhouse where my co-workers ordered steaks and baked potatoes bigger than their heads. I, on the other hand, ordered salmon and broccoli. I was craving fish and was thinking of my current diet.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I’m about 3 pounds lighter than I was a month ago. I have quit sugar and dairy though I still get temptation at times.

I am now running an average of 10 minutes a day on the treadmill and eating only two light meals a day (average less than 1000 calories per day). I don’t feel hungry at all which got me thinking that perhaps I shrunk my stomach while I was doing my intermittent fasting.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I will be enjoying my final three days of freedom. My two aunts and cousin will be arriving in the U.S. on Wednesday. One of my aunts and cousin are coming over to settle. I don’t know what my other aunt’s plan is. It wouldn’t matter though because if my aunt returns back to China, my uncle, his wife, and their son would come over which will make the house so much more crowded. I’m so not looking forward to that.

If we were having coffee or whatever hot beverage of your desire, I would tell you thank you for dropping by and I will once again try my hardest to come back in 6 or 7 days.
