Friday Fictioneers: Restricted

Genre: Dystopian

The alarms shrieked the second I walked into the library followed by flashing red lights. “Are you insane?” My friend, Tom, panted breathlessly as he skidded toward me. I frowned and noticed for the first time the spinning cameras above me. This new system sucked. They promised more freedom but it’s worse than living under the previous regime.

“Dude, I just need to use the tablet. Mine was…confiscated.” I said and marched toward one of the consoles in the enclosed area beneath the dome. That’s it. I don’t care. Whoever these new people are, they can all go to hell.

(100 words)

Each week, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple hosts Friday Fictioneers where we’re challenged to write a piece of flash fiction in 100 words, more or less, based on the picture above.

    • Who knows, maybe he’s got some incriminating stuff on it or maybe the new government of this world just like doing what they like. But I agree, there’s definitely more to the story than there is. Thank you for reading.
