I went on a solo hiking trip earlier this week in my hometown’s Forest Park and although I got in trouble for it (even though I’m too old to get in trouble for this kind of thing), the trip was totally worth it. Along the hiking path, I got to see native plants thrive in their protective environment and an entire garden dedicated to a single breed of flower – the Camellia flower.
According to Wikipedia, it’s sometimes called the “roses of winter” and it’s found in the wild of mainland China. Here’s something I definitely did not know – this is the official state flower of Alabama.
It was a beautiful garden. I not only got my workout climbing the stairs, I got the chance to photograph just about every color and shape of the flower. I hope you enjoy these pictures.
What lovely pictures.

I wish I have some in my garden but I’m not sure if they bloom in the frigid winter of northern Utah.

No they probably wouldn’t grow there!

Beautiful. I don’t grow camellias, but it is nice to be able to admire these. X
