Friday Fictioneers: The Moaning Rock

Have you ever heard of the Moaning Rock? This is it. Legend has it, this used to be just a plain old rock until an explorer died when parts of the rock fell on him. Unable to retrieve his remains, his companions left his remains here. Even today, if you look carefully, you can see some of his bones protrude on the ground but I would be respectful around his remains. It’s been said when he died trap beneath the rocks, his spirit remained trapped as well. It’s why you will hear an occasional moan. That’d be the dead explorer.

(100 words)

Each week, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple hosts Friday Fictioneers where we’re challenged to write a piece of flash fiction in 100 words, more or less, based on the picture above.
