Standing by the window with a mug of coffee, she glanced out the window. The snow had stopped and a light freezing mist had begun falling, making the pavement below slippery and glossy. “I ain’t going out today.” She spoke as she heard tiny footsteps behind her. Single-handed, she picked up the kitty and tucked him beneath her arm. “Not in this weather. I’m going to staying home with you.” The kitty meowed. “Are you happy, Sylvester?”

Sylvester stared up at her with his half-closed bored eyes and thought, I wish I can say yes, licked his lips and sighed.
