Friday Fictioneers: Blacked Out



She woke as the gate ascended, revealing a bright light. She shielded her eyes as a figure approached her. Panicked, she slid back only to be restrained by the rattling chain. The figure lowered until they met each other’s piercing blue eyes. He was familiar but she couldn’t pinpoint who he was. “You blacked out again.” He said.

“Blacked…out?” She asked, puzzled. Beneath the stream of light overhead, she looked down at her hands and gasped. They were covered with dry blood. “Who?”

Gently, he placed a hand on her shoulder, “He’s fine but you’re on time out for now.”
