Pebbles and rocks crunched beneath Kyle’s shoes as he jogged along the shore. It’s his favorite jogging route because he didn’t need to pay attention to where he was going. He could just focus on his thoughts as he watched the fog dissipate.
Crack!
He stopped. Something felt off about the previous step. He turned and there, on the ground, was an antique pocket watch. He picked it up and immediately, his head tilted back and eyes rolled back. For a moment, he saw only dark clouds, lightning, and people running and screaming. He dropped the watch and staggered back a few steps, his eyes widened.
This watch had seen darkness, a lot of it. There’s something dark coming. Thoughts began generated in his head. Not thoughts. Visions, premonitions of things that’d happen days, weeks, even months from the present. That’s the curse of the seer. One’d never know when something would occur.
Kyle picked up the watch and closed his eyes. The visions had stopped. Damn. Pocketing the watch, he headed for the shop.

Amazing! The watch gave him premonitions of the future! Or was he already a seer and it happened when he picked up the watch? Great story, Yinglan! Very intriguing!

He is a seer of dark objects even before the watch. Thank you for reading. 🙂

Wow, what a story! Love that he was a seer, and got visions from the old watch! 🙂

A very creative piece, Yinglan. I like the idea that the watch held knowledge of future times.

Great writing. I think this watch is one I would throw into the ocean. I would not like to know when bad things happen. My guess would be even if I tried to stop them as a seer, the events would still happen. Or, worse things could happen if you didn’t let the bad events happen to begin with. Very fascinating.

I agree. I’ve read about so many circumstances in novel that I would think it applies to real life as well. Good thing the seer in this story doesn’t have the ability to predict when bad things are going to happen, he’ll only know what the bad thing is.
And yes, I would totally throw this watch into the ocean too. 🙂

Maybe if he hadn’t stepped on it, it would tell him when the dark things would happen! He broke it. (Or, maybe the watch was just saying what it would like to happen after being abandoned and then stepped on! – It’s a grumpy watch). 🙂

I think it might have a small crack but it’s not broken and I have a feeling it’s not being abandoned by accident. Thank you for reading. 🙂

Ooh this character sounds intriguing! The ability of premonitions is such an interesting ability to have, I think. Great story 😀

Thank you. I think it would be very cool to be able to predict the future even if I have no idea when the event will take place.

I hope he gets rid of that watch. I like the mystery.

I’m not sure I’d be will get rid of the watch. It’s too interesting to him as a seer. 🙂
