“Don’t ever open the door for anyone, do you hear me?” Mama said forever ago. “No one except me.” She then grabbed my shoulders and shook her head. “You don’t know this place like I do. Anything can happen here.”
That was precisely three hours ago, before she headed out to the village, before I fell for a knock. “Who’s there?” I called.
“It’s your grandmother, dear.” I opened the door and next thing I knew, everything went dark.
“Little red?” A voice woke me from the darkness.
“Grandmother? Where are we?”
“We’re inside the big bad wolf.”
