Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers: Checker and Green

“Dude, have you heard the story about the three siblings walk into a bar looking completely out of place?” Checker asks.

“No?” Green answers.

“That’s ’cause the story’s about us.”

“No way!”

“Yeah, she wrote this story last year. Remember how embarassin’ it was?” Checker shakes his head. “I still can’t believe we time-traveled.” He laughs, “You should’ve seen Blondie’s face when the waiter at Rudy’s told her it’s 2015.” Green laughs along. “So how’s my babe brother doin’ in the 21st Century? Adapting to the weirdness?”

Green nods and hops off the bar stool. “Wanna play a game of pool?”

“All right,” Checker hops off his stool and wobbles to the pool table. “Loser buys beer.”

“Well, get ready to lose. By the way, did you gain weight?”

Checker pats his stomach, “What can I say, brother? The food here is good.” Green begins the game. “Get ready to lose.”

(~150 Words)

I am participating in Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writer, where we write a piece between 100 and 150 words (more or less 25 words) in length inspired by the photo prompt above.

The characters are from a story, A Hilarious Tale of Two Guys and a Girl, which I wrote May of 2015. So the “she” in the story is the author or me. 😀
