Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers: Legend

She had earned the nickname, Daughter of Nature, for the way she got to school everyday – through the woods, through the park, even through the concrete jungle called downtown. Three hours to and three hours back. After that walk, anyone would have been either exhausted or frightened because walking through the woods wasn’t for the faint of heart but she had neither of those reactions.

During lunch, she would usually keep to herself and make no attempts to communicate with others at least until the day he sat across from her at lunch. They didn’t say anything though. They just sat and stared at each other like they were communicating in some out-of-this-world way. Everyone around them waited anxiously for something to happen but nothing did. Then one day, they both disappeared.

A week after they disappeared, the police was notified. They repeatedly searched from the school to the woods but yielded no results. They eventually gave up and the case became somewhat of a legend. Of course I’ve never believed this legend until now…

(~175 Words)

I am participating in Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writer, where we write a piece between 100 and 150 words (more or less 25 words) in length inspired by the photo prompt above.
